Installation, Sandcastles of the Notre Dame. Exhibition view Objects vs. Things’ in Kunsthal Extra City, Antwerp, photo by Tomas Uyttendaele
This work originated after the fire collapse of the Parisian Notre-Dame Cathédrale in 2019.
The discourse on the reconstruction of the Cathédrale evoke critical questions of a g-local significance: Who gets to reshape the public space architecture and heritage? How are resources related to climate change? Who gets the right for distribution and re-distribution of resources? What notions should be preserved and what should be let go? What do resources tell us about society unity vis a vis its stratification?
